3 Guys in a Little Red Boat

Paddlefest 2010
Karl took Jamie and Henry down the river as a part of Paddlefest Cincinnati. The city closed the river to barge and motorboat traffic and welcomed any boat with a paddle to go down the Ohio. The put in was at Old Coney and the out at Serpentine Wall... 8 1/2 miles later. All three guys had a great time and are looking forward to having another go next year.
Row row row the little red boat boat boat.

Our daughters...youngest Rosie and oldest Anna.
They really are each others biggest fans- Rosie adores her Anna and Anna is completely smitten with her littlest sister.

Mountain Girl

Mary just returned from a week with our church's youth group in Montreat NC. She had such an amazing time- she said that she didn't want to come home. Big surprise there... our 15 yr old would rather hang out in the mountains with a bunch of other teenagers (and a few remarkable, brave and very kind leaders) rather than come home and be with her old boring family! On the final day they all woke up very early and climbed the mountain...I love the photos of the sunrise over the Smokey's that she was able to capture on her final day of adventure.

From left to right... Penny the schnoodle, with milkshake on her butt, Henry drinking a milkshake (coincidence...no?), Jamie with his new trademark goofy face, Karl the most patient husband ever and Lily typically and completely ignoring the rest of her family.

Kid Art

The kids are so fortunate to have a wonderful art program at their school. Both Lily and Jamie love art class and have learned a lot over the school year as evidenced by Jamie's self portraits. He was so proud to show me his most recent drawing and felt the need to explain that in his first day of school portrait, he didn't really understand how to draw a face yet. He referred to it as "my baby drawing."

Last day of class self portrait sketch by Jamie.

Here is a drawing by Jamie showing perspective. He thought that it was just wonderful that you could draw "things big, to look up close... and other things teeny tiny, to look far away."
That is pretty cool...

I liked it so much I had it framed- Jamie liked this too, and Rosie is just happy to be a part of the pose.
