Rosie and her Dad...Solid Gold Dancers.

Last weekend Rosie got to take her dad out dancing.
They had a double dance date with friends…another father daughter duo to the Oakley Daddy/Daughter dance and had the very best evening together.
Karl returned home with even more respect for Rosie's dance stamina… apparently she is a very energetic dancer who likes lifts but not rest breaks.
Believe it or not, nonstop dancing involving overhead lifting of your dance partner isn't the type of dancing that my dear husband is used to...he needed some downtime to rest and recover.
He said that a dance night out with Rosie is like two hours of aerobics...his very sweaty jacket really needed to go to the cleaners.
After the party there was a solid gold dance reenactment in the kitchen with spins instead of jumps… Dad's lifts had left him by the end of the night and he wisely chose to preserve his back for future dances.
Both Rosie and Karl had a wonderful night… good friends, a fantastic dance band
(Keith Jones and the Makeshifts) and a lot of Valentine's chocolate… thank you Aglamesis Bros. candy…yum.
It was a perfect evening and both this dad and daughter can't wait to go back in 2015!

Not Quite Sochi…Rosie's first Ice Show.

Rosie was thrilled to have a chance to show off her best moves in a show last weekend.
She and her little sherbet clad pals swished through their choreography to the tune of "People in your Neighborhood" made famous by Sesame Street.
She had a blast and did not once stop smiling during the whole routine…it was that kind of not so serious and super fun performance.
She was especially excited that she got to skate with one of the showcase skaters, 10 year old Sydney who is her personal ice skating hero and dear friend.
She loves her orange and pink glittery leotard more than anything, but she and her pal eventually had to make a practical choice for the post show open skate.
However she did choose to sleep in it… her most fabulous and glittery sleepwear ever.

Jamie and Turkey…two eleven year old guys.

Jamie and Turkey are both eleven years old and need each other tremendously.
Turkey needs Jamie because, while his own mother adores him, she has been absentee since she left for college four years ago.
Turkey needs someone who will look beyond his gassiness and incontinence and love him for his only skill in the world, the one thing that he is really very good at.
Which is being hugged.
And Jamie needs Turk because he is an 11 year old dude, and while it's not cool at all to hug your parents, a Turkey snuggle is always ok.
Yesterday Jamie took these portraits of his favorite dog and I think they actively capture the essence of Turkey.
Turkey wearing Jamie's favorite piano keys bow tie.
(Jamie has not yet learned the trick of cleaning up the background of the photo to fake like your room is less messy than it actually is)
Turkey trying his best to look intimidating with the ginormous and famous
(in our house)
Nerf Hail Fire.
Scratching his butt and back and then...
staring blankly at the bottom of the steps.
And that pretty much captures the highlights of Turkey's day caught and collected by his favorite guy.
We are all wishing Turkey many more years of good enough health to be there for Jamie to hold onto as he makes his way through his middle school years.
